You readily admit that the Senate will not convict the President. Yet you contradict yourself when you write about the Democrats:
“…more than they want to save the republic from a mentally ill, unstable, possibly demented narcissist.”
So your position is that the Democrats cannot save the republic because the Senate won’t convict, but the Democrats are to blame for this because they don’t WANT to save the republic.
Can you sense something wrong with this reasoning?
You accuse the Democrats of not being willing to hold the President accountable — but you admit that they do not have the power to hold the President accountable.
Let’s suppose that the Democrats wake up and say “OMG! Ms. Shiebler is right! Let’s pass a bill of impeachment forthwith!” And they do.
You’ll celebrate. You’ll cheer. “Hooray for those Democrats!” you’ll say.
Have you taken the time to think about what happens next? I doubt it. Here’s a somewhat exaggerated story I wrote explaining what will happen after the Democrats pass a bill of impeachment. It ends with Mr. Trump being re-elected. That’s what you’re advocating.
The Democrats could accomplish more by passing a resolution declaring that “President Trump is a Big Fat Poopyhead”.
